We’ve been brewing this for a while. Here’s the full story.
Listen to the episode right here – or read on for the highlights.
If you’ve been following us for any length of time, you’ll know that B Double E has been around since 2018. What you might not know is that for quite a bit of that time, we’ve been quietly working out how to do something we’d never done before: offer one service, together, that actually makes use of both our skill sets at the same time.
We’re Rob and Helen Bee. Rob does the studio, audio, and tech side of things. Helen does the branding, websites, and marketing. We’ve always worked alongside each other – but rarely together on the same thing, for the same people, at the same time.
That’s changed now. And this episode of The Voiceover Social podcast is us sitting down and explaining the whole thing properly, from the beginning.
So what is Be Seen, Be Heard?
The short version
Be Seen, Be Heard is a monthly membership for voice actors who want support with the business side of running a voiceover career.
Not the voice coaching side. Not the “how do I do a cold read” side. Those things are important and there are brilliant people out there who do that far better than us.
This is the bit that comes after that. The bit that a lot of people quietly struggle with.
The slightly longer version
Here’s something we’ve noticed, having been in and around the voiceover industry for a very long time: there’s a lot of excellent training on how to voice. How to act, how to read a script, how to nail a commercial or a corporate or an audiobook.
What there isn’t quite as much of is support for how to run the business. How to sort your website. How to keep showing up with your marketing. How to get your studio sounding right. How to track your finances without wanting to throw your laptop out of the window.
And yet – that stuff matters enormously. You can be a wonderful voice actor and still really struggle to build a career if the business side of things isn’t working for you.
That’s the gap we’re trying to fill.
Why this, and why now?
Because we kept seeing the same thing
We’ve both been involved in memberships, conferences, accountability groups, coaching programmes – you name it. And the thing we kept noticing was that there’s a lot of teaching happening in these spaces. Webinars, workshops, information.
But very little actual doing.
As Helen explains in the episode:
“You’ll go on a webinar and you’ll get all these ideas buzzing around, and then it’s up to you to try and work out how and when to do that. Personally, that doesn’t work for me.”
So we built something with co-working baked in. Not as a bonus or an add-on – as a core part of the membership. Because sitting with a group of people who are also getting things done? That’s what actually moves things forward.
Because the business side isn’t the fun bit
And let’s be honest about that. Nobody goes into voiceover because they love updating their website or doing their bookkeeping. You go into voiceover because you love what happens in front of the mic.
All that other stuff is part of the deal. But it doesn’t mean you have to figure it out on your own.
What’s actually included
The Be Seen side (that’s Helen)
Branding, websites, marketing. Getting unstuck. Getting visible. Knowing what to put on your website and actually feeling confident about it. We’re going to make this stuff as playful as we possibly can, because let’s face it – it can get a bit dull, and the more fun we can make it, the more likely you are to actually do it.
The Be Heard side (that’s Rob)
Home studio setup and troubleshooting, audio production techniques, editing different genres, dealing with live sessions, script read-throughs directed by Rob with his 25 years of experience as a director. If it makes noise, Rob’s got you.
The stuff that holds it all together
Weekly co-working calls, monthly coaching sessions, deep-dive webinars, Ask Us Anything sessions, discounted one-to-one time with us, a membership directory, and forums for branding, websites & marketing, home studio, audio & production, community, and celebrating the good stuff.
And then there’s this – the Home Studio Accreditation
This is brand new. Rob has been asked for something like this more times than he can count. An actual, robust accreditation for your home studio, with a badge you can display on your website. Something that means something.
As Rob says in the episode:
“To my knowledge, there is no one else offering anything like this.”
It’s free for Be Seen, Be Heard members. It’ll be available to purchase separately further down the line – but for members, it’s included.
“But will you actually show up?”
Yes. We keep getting asked this, so let’s be clear about it.
We are the ones running this. Not a team of moderators. Not someone we’ve brought in. Us. Rob and Helen, every week, in the sessions, on the forums, checking in.
Helen says it plainly in the episode:
“We are the ones in there. We’re the ones giving you advice. We’re the ones checking in every day.”
That’s not something you’ll find in every membership. And it’s something we take seriously.
Is this for you?
Be Seen, Be Heard is for voice actors who are already working (or actively building their career) and want support with the business side of things. Early career, mid career, established – it doesn’t matter where you are. What matters is that you’re ready to show up and actually do the work.
It is not for people looking for voice coaching, a done-for-you service, or a guarantee of work. If that’s what you need, there are brilliant people out there for that – we’ll happily point you in their direction.
But if you’re great behind the mic and the business side of things feels like a constant uphill struggle? You’re in exactly the right place.
